CaseCentral Announces Support for New XML Standard to Ease eDiscovery Data Transfers

SAN FRANCISCO - October 31, 2007 - CaseCentral, a leader in hosted discovery lifecycle management solutions for FORTUNE 1000 corporations and the law firms that serve them, today announced its support of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model’s (EDRM) recently announced Extensible Markup Language (XML) standard. This new industry-wide capability will make it easier for organizations engaged in electronic discovery to transfer electronically stored information (ESI) to and from various e-discovery applications and processes.

CaseCentral actively participated in the development of the new XML standard, and Tyler Robbins, the company’s senior director of operations, is a member of key EDRM working groups.  As part of its ongoing support of EDRM, CaseCentral provided the XML team with customer-focused insight, expertise and feedback derived from its long history of innovation in the eDiscovery marketplace. 

The XML standard consists of an XML Schema Definition (XSD) that will allow all parties to consistently describe documents, email, attachments and standalone files, as well as the underlying metadata for all of those objects as they move through the e-discovery process. The XML Project has created a validation tool to quickly and efficiently validate that files conform to the XML standard prior to importing the data. The standard was developed by the XML Project, an EDRM working group consisting of technologists and lawyers from the leading e-discovery vendors, service providers, law firms and corporate end-users.
