Multi-Firm Joint Defense Group
Challenge
In some situations, the common interests of many defendants are best served by
a joint defense group sharing a common document repository for discovery. All
participating firms need easy access to the repository, regardless of their
location and the size. Although similar defense strategies may make it desirable
to share some information (documents, bibliographic coding) and work (attending
depositions) between firms, other work products need to be kept strictly confidential
within each firm.
The administrative costs of a common repository should not fall disproportionately
on any single firm in the team. On the other hand, each firm should be able to
fully administer its own users and access policies.
Solution
This challenge can be addressed with CaseCentral® Law Firm Edition™. Each firm has agreed-upon access level to the common document repository, and a secured area for confidential work product. Each firm administers its own users, but has no access rights to another firm’s private information or user setup. The costs for the service are shared equally by the parties, delivering a cost-effective solution.
Benefits
- Secure access to a shared evidence repository accessible to all firms in the joint defense team
- High performance access to tens of millions of documents (i.e. search and organization of massive amounts of information)
- Ability to keep the work product for each party separate and secure, while sharing the cost of storing the information
- Internet based, highly secure, from a known vendor
