Industry veteran to drive CaseCentral leadership in on-demand eDiscovery solutions
CaseCentral Appoints Steven d’Alencon, Veteran of Kazeon and Oracle, As Chief Marketing OfficerSAN FRANCISCO - June 16, 2008 - CaseCentral, a leader in delivering a proven on-demand eDiscovery solution to FORTUNE 1000 corporations and the law firms that serve them, today continued the expansion of its executive team, naming Steven d’Alencon as vice president of product management and marketing and Chief Marketing Officer. d’Alencon is the fourth new executive appointed by Tom Thimot since he became CEO in January.
d’Alencon is responsible for leading go-to-market programs for CaseCentral, including solution definition, demand generation, public and analyst relations and marketing communications. d’Alencon is a product management and marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience at top enterprise software and high technology companies, including running his own marketing consultancy in Silicon Valley.
Prior to CaseCentral, d'Alencon was vice president of product marketing at Kazeon Systems, where he transformed its brand from a storage management company into an eDiscovery product and solutions leader. During his tenure, the company’s eDiscovery and overall revenue grew significantly and it received recognition from ESG, Forrester, Gartner and IDC as being a leading product for in-house proactive and reactive eDiscovery in response to litigation, information security and privacy, corporate investigations and regulatory compliance requirements.
d’Alencon was vice president of product management and marketing at GoRemote Internet Communications, a NASDAQ public company that was acquired by iPass and vice president of marketing for the Oracle Application Server Division where he launched the Oracle Application Server and attained a top 3 market position while helping to double division revenue.
d’Alencon is the co-chair of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Evergreen working group. Launched in May 2005 by independent consultants George Socha (Socha Consulting, LLC) and Tom Gelbmann (Gelbmann & Associates), the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Project (www.edrm.net) was created to address the lack of standards and guidelines in the electronic discovery market. The completed reference model provides a common, flexible and extensible framework for the development, selection, evaluation and use of electronic discovery products and services.
“Steve’s track record for building brands and developing innovative marketing initiatives combined with his relevant industry experience make him the obvious choice to help drive continued growth of our market-leading electronic discovery solutions,” said CaseCentral President and CEO Tom Thimot.
“I worked alongside Steve when he was a vice president of marketing at Oracle launching our application server initiatives,” said Judith Sim, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Oracle Corporation. “He has the unique combination of intellect, innovation and marketing savvy to be a great CMO for CaseCentral.”
“The changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) in December, 2006 cemented electronic discovery as an activity that organizations of all sizes in all industries must respond to on a regular basis,” said Brian Babineau, a Senior Analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. “Organizations need innovative solutions that can make electronic discovery a repeatable business process to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of each matter. It is unlikely that enterprises are going to want to deploy large-scale IT infrastructures to improve such things as evidence management, review and production, creating a unique opportunity for a company like CaseCentral. I expect d’Alencon, because of his market insight, to shine a bright light on CaseCentral’s multi-tenant, Software as a Service architecture, which allows customers to manage multiple matters from one central location.
“CaseCentral has paid close attention to the needs of its customers and has built an unparalleled set of eDiscovery software solutions that offer clearly differentiated value in terms of capabilities, configurability, cost and risk control,” d’Alencon said. “CaseCentral is long recognized as an eDiscovery innovator and visionary and I am thrilled to join the impressive team here to capitalize on its dominant position in the electronic discovery marketplace.”
