CaseCentral, the leader in electronic discovery and litigation lifecycle management solutions for major law firms and corporations, today announced key enhancements to the enterprise and law firm editions of its Online Review and Repository managed service, improving the speed and accuracy of redacting documents. Already the industry's leading online review service for litigation, CaseCentral's Online Review and Repository is introducing innovative capabilities to make redacting documents, and then reviewing the redactions for accuracy and consistency, easier than ever. The new capabilities are immediately available to all corporate counsel and law firm clients using the Online Review and Repository service.

"We continue to focus on enhancements that enable users to review more documents with greater accuracy in less time, helping our clients shorten the entire litigation lifecycle," said Dan Ford, Product Manager, CaseCentral. "Our ability to develop, test, and make these enhancements immediately available to our clients is a critical competitive advantage of our service model and ensures that our service supports the dynamic needs of corporate counsel and law firms."

These enhancements extend the unique redaction management capabilities provided by CaseCentral’s Online Review and Repository service. As part of preproduction quality checks, for example, users will be warned if they're about to produce an unredacted document that has been redacted in the past, or even if the pages redacted or the number of redactions is inconsistent.  This feature is particularly beneficial for enterprise customers where the same document may be reviewed repeatedly for multiple cases and consistency is crucial.
Redaction Made Easy

With the service enhancements, new redactions are added simply by selecting a redaction reason and then highlighting the appropriate text with a graphical drawing tool. The redactions appear on-screen as shaded but translucent regions, making it easy to validate that only appropriate text has been redacted. On-screen redactions appear color-coded by type: for example, green for confidentiality and yellow for privilege. Verifying the accuracy of redactions is much easier since the text under redactions is still visible while the color cues immediately indicate the reason for the redaction.

Producing only a single page out of a multi-page document is no longer a chore requiring laborious manual redaction of all but the produced page. The reviewer can fully redact an entire page, or even ranges of pages, in a single step, leading to significant time savings.
New Production Options

The Online Review and Repository service now offers increased flexibility when producing documents. In-house counsel or clients can be provided with copies of productions that still show redactions as translucent, enabling counsel to view the entire document yet see what text had been redacted for opposing counsel. Of course document productions to opposing counsel show redactions as opaque. These options are available both when users print locally and when CaseCentral makes the production.
