eDiscovery Leader CaseCentral Enters 2011 with Substantial Growth in Fourth Quarter 2010
New Fortune 500 clients and increased renewal business fuels 2011 momentum and demand for CaseCentral’s cloud-based eDiscovery softwareSan Francisco – January 12, 2011 – CaseCentral, the leader in secure, cloud-based eDiscovery software for corporate counsel and law firms to simplify and take control of eDiscovery, today announced substantial growth and profitability for the fourth quarter of 2010. Increasing demand for CaseCentral’s cloud-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) eDiscovery software and a considerable level of renewal business drove CaseCentral’s results during the quarter.
“As the eDiscovery market matures, both companies and law firms are realizing the benefits of cloud-based eDiscovery software that adapts quickly to fluctuations in eDiscovery demands without the burden of expensive IT infrastructure,” said Tom Thimot, President and CEO, CaseCentral. “The successes of CaseCentral’s cloud-based eDiscovery software are clear indications of our eDiscovery leadership and the value that our cloud-based eDiscovery technology delivers to both our clients and the legal community. We believe that 2011 is the year that corporations and law firms will overwhelmingly evaluate cloud-based software to support their eDiscovery processes and workflow.”
During the fourth quarter of 2010 the company produced greater than 35 percent quarter-over-quarter revenue growth and signaled a return to profitability by posting more than 15 percent net income and EBITDA greater than 20 percent.
SaaS / Cloud Computing Uptake by New Fortune 500 Clients and Sizable Renewal Business
CaseCentral also recognized significant new customer signings and installed base expansion. DTE Energy and MeadWestvaco, both Fortune 500 companies, chose CaseCentral’s cloud-based eDiscovery software for in-house eDiscovery. During the quarter, CaseCentral signed an extraordinary multi-year, $20m client contract for its cloud-based eDiscovery software. During the quarter, existing clients increased their use of the CaseCentral software by over 30 percent, representing continued confidence in CaseCentral’s cloud-based, SaaS eDiscovery software.

Continued Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Cloud Computing eDiscovery Growth
“SaaS advantages, such as ease of deployment, easy upgrades and the ability to scale up and down quickly depending on the size of the matter, benefit legal users who wish to avoid conventional buying and support services from their internal IT departments. This will allow legal departments to contract directly for e-discovery functionality with very little risk and no implementation delays.” 1
Software application delivery via the cloud provides control without the burden of infrastructure.
When bringing eDiscovery in-house, corporations, law firms and service providers are finding a secure, private cloud-based software application compelling. Clients control the eDiscovery process, data and access, without incurring the costs, risks and time delays inherent in on-premise software deployment and use. Cloud-based applications provide a centralized environment needed to give corporations and law firms control over their eDiscovery projects while enabling seamless collaboration with users outside the firewall, including service providers and outside counsel. Additionally, cloud-based applications minimize the requests for internal IT departments to constantly purchase infrastructure and modify corporate network and security standards for third party access, which can increase security risks.
CaseCentral’s cloud-based eDiscovery platform provides elastic capacity, on-demand. Clients can support large fluctuations in ESI data volumes without paying for additional storage hardware or infrastructure. And clients can add new users, reviewers and cases immediately without waiting on over-taxed IT departments.
