Dominating modern-day legal proceedings, eDiscovery is a pressing issue for corporate counsel and law firms because electronic communications have become the backbone of most business activities. As a result, companies are increasingly standardizing on tools like CaseCentral to address eDiscovery as a strategic business process, rather than an event-based activity, applying organizational best practices in a consistent, repeatable way and utilizing appropriate technology to support that approach, thereby reducing eDiscovery risk, cost and time.
“According to our research, 54% of corporate counsels are prioritizing technology investments to automate and support the eDiscovery process,” said Brian Babineau, vice president with Enterprise Strategy Group. “This data indicates that companies have thought about electronic discovery as a strategic business process and started to measure related expenses so they can identify room for improvements. CaseCentral offers several potential efficiencies through its cloud-based, centralized legal repository, and ability to capture, analyze and optimize review workflows. CaseCentral’s latest release extends the efficiencies to new ESI formats and automates review workflows eliminating the risk of delays created by poor communication across a case.”
Now generally available, CaseCentral R5 was developed in response to the most current and compelling market requirements:
- Deliver cutting-edge eDiscovery technology and tools to increase review throughput and efficiency and to improve defensibility of the eDiscovery process
- Integrate with enterprise data sources and support the automated ingestion and review of social media content, in addition to traditional data types, to provide end-to-end eDiscovery capabilities
- Leverage cloud computing to provide time, cost, risk and predictability advantages over on-premise software
- Provide self-service and automation capabilities to increase efficiency and decrease process time and error
- Utilize a centralized legal repository to provide process transparency and to connect with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) initiatives
“In CaseCentral R5, I can intuitively filter for a specific data set using facets and dynamic concepts without having to do a series of searches,” said an attorney at a Fortune 500 insurance company. “In Amazon, for example, if I want to buy shoes I can easily filter for manufacturer, size and color. In R5, I can use the same filtering technique but instead use metadata such as Custodian, Author, File Type and Date. This allows me to get to what I need to look at much faster before jumping into full-scale review.”
Gartner Group predicts that, “By 2013, software as a service (SaaS) and business process utilities will account for 75% of the revenue derived from processing, review, analysis and production of electronically stored information (ESI).”1 We believe this finding highlights the efficient and cost-effective delivery model of cloud-based eDiscovery software like CaseCentral’s.
“Legal counsel, IT and C-Level executives have become increasingly challenged to reduce the risks and costs associated with eDiscovery and to minimize the business communication folly that can occur within Electronically Stored Information (ESI) – in traditional office documents, through public-facing websites, and via social media channels, email and other collaboration tools, such as SharePoint and wikis,” said Chris Kruse, CEO, CaseCentral. “Bringing a strategic eDiscovery business process in-house with CaseCentral’s cloud-based eDiscovery software gives corporations and law firms much greater ability to manage eDiscovery time, cost and risk.”
